Mosaic Business Solutions



UltraLaser Imaging is a managed print services provider comprised of productivity consultants who can help manage a company’s entire fleet of office equipment. This frees up IT departments to focus more on network security and less on fixing broken printers. The company’s solutions include print management solutions, online workflow solutions, document management and all hardware and peripheral needs.


However, when they approached our agency, they realized that UltraLaser was a name they’d outgrown. Being a team that could see the whole picture of a company’s equipment and understand the “Total Cost of Ownership” of that equipment, they had the larger perspective of where a company could be more profitable. UltraLaser just sounded like they sold printers, which wasn’t technically accurate at all.


In truth, their process was a bit like piecing together a series of elements in order to gain a total view of the company – not unlike what happens when someone creates a mosaic. You may not be able to see what one piece of tile represents by itself, but when the pieces all fit to form a picture, it’s easy to appreciate. So as we compiled a series of name options, we realized this name – like some of the best names we’ve worked with – had meaning for the team. And when it has meaning, it’s more likely to be embraced long-term. Therefore, we dubbed the company Mosaic Business Solutions.

Even though the management of the company had a very good feeling about the new name, they wanted everyone on the team to have the same feeling too. Plus, like anything as important as a new name, they needed to feel absolutely sure that Mosaic was the name they were going to get behind for years to come. That’s why when we get naming projects, we often supply mock-up designs of that new name, so the client can truly envision it on a business card, website and many other important elements for the brand.

Case in point: For Mosaic, seeing such mock-ups resulted in the entire team feeling excited about the possibilities of the brand. They saw themselves as Mosaic and they began to express themselves as Mosaic to the outside world even before they had materials. That said, it wasn’t long before we created a series of corporate identity pieces for Mosaic so that the leadership and employees could use, including:
